Dozens of firefighters were called to extinguish a three-alarm blaze that tore through a home in Toronto's Rosedale neighbourhood on Monday afternoon.

Approximately 60 firefighters and 15 trucks were called to the scene, shortly before 1 p.m.

The fire was reported by a passerby who noticed smoke coming from a detached home at 29 Maple Ave., near Bloor and Sherbourne Streets.

Toronto Fire said there was extensive damage in the rear of the home, which served as a rooming house.

Officials on scene told CTV Toronto that the fire was knocked down by 2:15 p.m.

No injuries have been reported, and it appears that no one was home at the time.
