A Niagara Falls man is facing a charge of second-degree murder after an altercation at a bar left one man dead early Saturday morning.

Niagara Regional Police responded to a call at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday regarding a disturbance at a bar on Portage Road in Niagara Falls.

Upon arrival, police and EMS found one unconscious male who had suffered trauma to the body.

Police said the male was attended to by EMS, but succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Police have identified the victim as 41-year-old John Mckenzie of Niagara Falls. A post-mortem has been scheduled for Sunday.

Police have charged Niagara Falls resident 29-year-old Timothy Brian Nicholls with second-degree murder, said Const. Derek Watson.
