One person is dead and four others are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Mississauga Monday night.

The collision occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mississauga Road and Meadowvale Boulevard.

The victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One patient is currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries, Peel police said. Three others are currently being treated for minor injuries.

The crash was witnessed by a number of people, Peel police Const. Fiona Thivierge told CP24 at the scene.

"We need to speak to all of them to get a proper idea of exactly what direction everyone was going, what the lights were doing, that type of thing," she said.

Thivierge said it is still too early to determine the cause of the crash.

"It could be a number of factors," she said. "So to single out one or the other would be inappropriate right now."

Police continue to investigate at the scene.
