After further investigation, TTC officials have determined that a subway train did not partially derail, but instead may have been stopped due to signal issues.
TTC spokesperson Danny Nicholson told CP24 that about 60 passengers were safely escorted off the train Wednesday morning. He said initial reports indicated that TTC staff thought a wheel had come off the train, causing a minor derailment.
"Following that we started an investigation and it was determined that in fact the train did not derail," he said. "Upon further investigation it was determined that the train did not come off the tracks.
"There were some signal problems, the train has been moved off and power has been restored."
The TTC says that full subway service on the Bloor-Danforth line has resumed, but passengers can expect some residual delays.
Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond said they received a call about the power being cut at around 8:45 a.m. Officers were on the scene to help passengers off the train.
TTC officials are investigating.
