Two of the most popular animals at the Toronto Zoo will celebrate their first birthday today.
Giant panda cubs Jian Panpan (Canadian Hope) and Jia Yueyue (Canadian Joy) were born on Oct. 13, 2015 to mother Er Shun.
Since their birth, the cubs have drawn large crowds to the Toronto Zoo and have met a number of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Kathleen Wynne.
The cubs have also been the stars in a number of videos that have been widely distributed on social media.
To celebrate the cubs birthday today, the Toronto Zoo is throwing them a party during which time they will be presented with a “special treat.”
The zoo has also released a three-and-a-half minute video that includes footage of the cubs from their birth and their early efforts to learn to walk as well as more recent footage of them playing around in their indoor habitat.
