Stars have started to flock to Hollywood North for the 32nd annual Toronto International Film Festival.

The event kicks off today with a gala screening for hometown director Jeremy Podeswa's "Fugitive Pieces.''

Some of the biggest stars on the planet will pour into the city for the 10-day festival, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon and Cate Blanchett.

Paris Hilton has already been spotted going for a bite at Morton's Steakhouse, and then to Ultra Supper Club where her friend was working.

"I love Toronto," she told a sea of paparazzi.

Austin Powers star Verne Troyer was also spotted taking a spin around Yorkville in a motorized cart.

About 350 films from 55 countries are playing at the festival.

Forty-one features this year are either Canadian or Canadian co-productions, including David Cronenberg's highly anticipated "Eastern Promises.''

Other movies getting early buzz ahead of their screening at the festival include "Michael Clayton,'' "Elizabeth: The Golden Age,'' "I'm Not There'' and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,'' which was shot in Manitoba and Alberta.

This year's fest also boasts an intriguing lineup of documentaries, including Michael Moore's "Captain Mike Across America'' and Jonathan Demme's tribute to Jimmy Carter, "Man from Plains.''

The festival runs until September 15.
