Toronto police arrest suspected impaired driver spotted travelling on closed highway while en route to pick up kids
Police say that a 31-year-old Etobicoke woman was charged with impaired driving earlier this week after she was spotted travelling on a closed highway while on the way to pick up her children.
The incident happened on Highway 400 near Finch Avenue on Wednesday.
Police say the highway was shut down for a “serious collision” when the driver bypassed the closure.
“The driver of this car went through the closure. Officers were able to get her stopped before she came into contact with the investigators at the scene,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video posted to social media.
Police say that the driver was ultimately charged with impaired operation after failing a roadside sobriety test.
