TORONTO - Toronto has ended its heat alert.

The city's medical officer of health, Dr. David McKeown, issued the advisory Friday as temperatures soared to 33 C.

With the humidex, weather officials said it felt more like 38.

Environment Canada projected temperatures to only to hit 27 on Saturday.

During a heat alert, residents are advised to try to stay cool, avoid strenuous activities, drink plenty of fluids and check on seniors and those who may be at risk.

Since May, Toronto has declared 12 heat alerts and nine extreme heat alerts.
