Toronto police arrested a man on Friday who was wanted in connection with the death of a five-month-old boy last year.

The boy, Adriel Da Silva Garcia, died from injuries suffered during an alleged beating in September 2010 after his mother left him alone in the care of her boyfriend.

The baby was taken to the hospital on Sept. 12 and underwent brain surgery. Doctors told the family the infant was brain dead. He died two months later on Nov. 9.

Police said the accused disappeared shortly after he and his girlfriend dropped off the baby at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children.

Another man was arrested and charged with allegedly helping the accused evade arrest.

Ronnie Munoz-Hernandez, 22, is charged with second-degree murder and was to appear in a Toronto court on Friday.
