Toronto police say a suspect in a 2007 homicide that saw the victim dropped off at a Toronto EMS station has surrendered to authorities in Korea.

The 29-year-old will be in custody pending an extradition hearing, police said Wednesday in a news release.

Const. Wendy Drummond, a Toronto police spokesperson, told CTV Toronto that the extradition process could take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to resolve.

On May 9, 2007, a home invasion took place at a Dean Park Road residence, which is near the Sheppard Avenue East and Meadowvale Road area.

Police alleged that three people armed with handguns carried out the home invasion, struggled with the occupants and removed some marijuana.

In the process, someone shot Khong Duy Nguyen, 33, in the head. An unidentified person took him to a Toronto EMS station on Sheppard Avenue just before midnight and left him in the parking lot.

Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital, but he died in the early evening of May 10, 2007.

Four arrests have been made in connection with this case. The men charged have since pleaded guilty to offences such as manslaughter, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery and been sentenced.

Police said Wednesday that Sang-Woo Ye, also known as Michael, will be facing a charge of first-degree murder.

They issued an appeal in late January for the suspect to surrender to police.

No allegations against Sang-Woo Ye have been proven in a court of law.
