A 28-year-old Mississauga man who was wanted in connection with 19 break-and-enters in the Leaside, Rosedale and Yorkville areas has been arrested.

The man was taken into custody in Peterborough in the early hours of Oct. 5, less than a day after police put out a news release identifying him as a suspect in the break-ins.

The break-ins occurred between July and September.

Police previously said that the suspect gained entry into homes through unlocked doors and windows and stole jewelry, cash and electronics once inside.

Matthew Ward is charged with 19 counts of break-and-enter and one count of sexual assault.

Police have not said what the sexual assault charge pertains to.
