A special weather statement has been issued ahead of a fall storm that is expected to hit the GTA late Tuesday night.

Environment Canada says that a fall storm over the American Midwest is expected to merge with moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Patricia and track towards the GTA.

Rainfall is expected to be heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms also possible.

Environment Canada says that expected rainfall amounts are still uncertain but 25 to 40 mm are likely for most areas included in the warning. 

Strong and gusty southwesterly winds are also forecasted to develop on Wednesday. Environment Canada says wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected.
