SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot by police in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., late Saturday night.
The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate.
Police say officers were investigating the stabbing of a woman by a man around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night.
The man was wounded and was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds. The woman was also taken to hospital for treatment.
Five investigators and two forensic investigators are probing the incident.
The SIU investigates incidents involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
