Less than a week after Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's black Escalade was spotted in Ontario’s cottage country, his vehicle was again seen in the area – this time at an impound lot.
The black SUV has been locked up at a Gravenhurst, Ont., lot after police received a call at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday that it was being driven erratically.
Ford, who is in rehab undergoing treatment for substance abuse, was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Instead, it was being driven by a 36-year-old Muskoka Lakes woman, police say. She has been charged with impaired driving.
The vehicle has since been impounded and is parked at a Muskoka-area lot. Its license plates have been removed, but sources confirmed that the vehicle belongs to the mayor.
The woman has not been charged with stealing the vehicle, police said. She has been identified as LeeAnne McRobb.
Ford's brother, Coun. Doug Ford told CTV Toronto that he is does not know who McRobb is, and hasn't been told about his brother’s vehicle being impounded.
The mayor's lawyer, Dennis Morris, also said he hasn’t been informed about the incident.
McRobb picks up personal items at impound lot?
In a video published on YouTube Tuesday, a woman who appears to be McRobb is seen at a Muskoka-area lot. She is heard telling an attendant that she is there to pick up some personal items from a car that was impounded.
"Well, it’s not my vehicle but all my stuff is in it," she says in the video.
The woman is also heard mentioning Rob Ford's name a number of times. When asked in the video if she is staying in rehab with the mayor, she responds, "No, I’m not anymore."
"I was but I’m out of there," she says.
