TORONTO - A teen who admitted he killed Stefanie Rengel to appease his jealous girlfriend was ordered Friday to undergo a psychiatric assessment.

The 19-year-old man, who can only be identified as D.B., pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last week.

He appeared briefly in a Toronto court and was remanded in custody until next Friday.

The 14-year-old Rengel was found stabbed outside her Toronto home on New Year's Day 2008.

Court hear D.B., who turned 18 four days after the slaying, was pressured by his then 15-year-old girlfriend M.T. into murdering the Grade 9 student.

M.T. was convicted of first-degree murder last month and will be sentenced on May 13 in Superior Court.
