MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - The body of a teenage girl was discovered in a small park in Mississauga, west of Toronto, police said Friday.

The body was found in a wooded section of a parkette on Spinnaker Circle, in the Courtneypark Drive West and Mavis Road area, shortly after noon.

Police have not determined if the death is connected to another incident Friday that shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 401 for more than four hours.

The highway was closed from Hurontario Street to Mavis Road after a teenaged boy plunged to the road from the Mavis overpass and was struck by a car. He was airlifted to hospital and is in serious condition.

Const. George Tudos of Peel regional police said they are investigating the possibility that the two incidents are related.

"The location of both incidents are very close to each other," said Tudos. "Our investigators are going to be speaking to witnesses and trying to piece everything together to determine if in fact, they are related."

Police have set up another scene down the street near a sports facility located next to Mississauga Secondary School.

Students who gathered in the area said both teens attended the school. Police would not confirm the information until the girl's next of kin had been notified.
