Police have identified a suspect in connection with a sexual assault in downtown Toronto last week.

The incident occurred Friday, Nov. 6, shortly before midnight, in the area of Yonge and Alexander Streets.

According to Toronto police, a 28-year-old woman was approached by a man and taken behind a building at gunpoint. Her hands were bound and she was sexually assaulted, Toronto Police Acting Insp. Joanne Rudnick said at a news conference Thursday.

The assault was interrupted by three men exiting a cab in the area. As the suspect fled, the men helped the woman and called police. She was then taken to hospital.

Police have identified the suspect as 45-year-old Brennan Wayne Guigue. He is described as 5-foot-9 with a medium build.

Guigue is wanted on charges including sexual assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and forcible confinement.

"Mr. Guigue, contact your lawyer, and make arrangements to turn yourself in," Rudnick said.

A warrant has been issued for Guigue's arrest, but police warned he could be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Rudnick said he is known to frequent the city's downtown core.
