MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Police are asking for the public's help to identify the owner of a black-and-white husky that attacked a three-year-old girl in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police say it happened Sept. 23 when the girl and a relative were at a leash-free dog park in the city.

Police say the owner of the husky initially spoke with the victim's family member, but he left the park prior to paramedics attending.

The girl suffered three non-life-threatening puncture wounds to the back of her neck and was transported to a trauma centre.

Police say they received information on Oct. 16 and released a photo of a possible owner, but that lead was dropped after officers spoke with the person.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
