Pedestrian has life-threatening injuries following fail-to-remain crash in North York

A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in critical condition early Sunday morning after being struck during a hit-and-run in North York.

The collision happened near Victoria Park and McNicoll avenues.

Toronto police said they were called to that area shortly after 1:30 a.m.

According to police, a driver was travelling southbound on Victoria Park Avenue approximately 150 metres north of McNicoll Avenue when they struck a 49-year-old male pedestrian who was in the southbound curb lane of Victoria Park.

The motorist then fled the scene, they said.

The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Services is investigating.

Toronto police are asking local residents, business, and drivers who may have security or dashcam footage of the area or incident to contact them at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
