The OPP has nabbed some motorists either speeding or driving unsafe vehicles during this holiday weekend.

In the first few hours of the Thanksgiving blitz, 15 of 20 vehicles pulled over were found to be in unsafe condition. Police ordered those vehicles off the road.

Near Port Hope, OPP officers clocked one female driver at 130 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone. If convicted of speeding, she'll be fined $230 and have four demerit points slapped on her driver's licence.

Provincial and Toronto police are participating in Operation Impact, a federally funded national traffic safety and enforcement initiative that runs until Monday.

Officers across the province will be enforcing laws on seat-belt compliance and will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, street racing and other high-risk offences.

In Toronto, police will be boosting traffic patrols across the GTA.
