TORONTO - The ground-floor windows of the Ontario legislature will be boarded up and the building closed during the G8 and G20 summits.

Protests are scheduled to be held in Queen's Park north, immediately behind the historic legislative building, throughout the June 25-27 meetings of the world leaders.

However, the legislature itself isn't scheduled to sit -- it adjourns today for the summer recess -- and the building is normally empty on weekends except for security staff.

The government says it still expects civil servants who work in the huge office blocks surrounding the legislative building to be on the job on Friday, June 25.

In addition to the windows being shuttered, there will be no parking on the grounds and access to the building will be restricted to one basement door.

Media who work in the legislature have been told they will not be allowed to video the protesters through their office windows.
