The province of Ontario says it has confirmed 131 new cases of H1N1, bringing the total number of provincial cases to 626 since the start of the outbreak.

According to the province, almost all of the cases are considered to be mild.

As of May 28, six Ontarians were in hospital who were confirmed to have the H1N1 virus.

Ontario has so far confirmed one death from the flu virus, a person who died May 23.

  • Peel Region - 98 (26)
  • York Region - 82 (15)
  • Halton - 62 (3)
  • City of Ottawa - 19 (3)
  • Durham Region - 16 (no new cases)
  • Simcode Muskoka District - 9 (3)
  • Windsor Essex - 5 (no new cases)
  • Hamilton - 5 (1)
  • Wellington Dufferin Guelph - 4 (2)
  • Sudbury and District - 3 (no new cases)
  • Waterloo Region - 3 (1)
  • Niagara Region - 1 (1)
  • Oxford County - 1 (1)
  • Leeds, Grenville & Lanark - 1 (no new cases)
  • Middlesex-London - 1 (no new cases)
  • Hastings and Prince Edward Counties - 1 (no new cases)
  • Out of province - 2 (no new cases)

As of Friday, the Public Health Agency of Canada said it had confirmed 1,336 total cases across nine provinces.

So far, there have been two deaths in Canada.

Also on Friday, the World Health Organization reported 15,510 cases across 53 countries.

Worldwide, 99 people have died from the H1N1 virus.
