One male is dead following a shooting at a plaza in North York, Toronto police say.

The incident occurred near Marlee Avenue and Lawrence Avenue West, near Allen Road, shortly before midnight.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was located outside Lawrence Plaza and transported to hospital, where he later died, police said.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects.

The fatal shooting occurred just minutes before a man was stabbed to death outside a plaza near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue.

"Our officers are working around the clock to investigate," Acting Insp. Todd Jocko told reporters on Tuesday morning.

"We know that the recent violence in Toronto… is deeply concerning and we understand the community’s alarm,"

He said police are urging members of the public to come forward with any video footage they may have from the scenes.

Officers are currently canvassing the area for witnesses.
