The Ontario Fire Marshal's office is investigating after a three-alarm fire broke out at a high-end Toronto grocery store.

Firefighters were called to Pusateri's Fine Foods, located on Avenue Road near Lawrence Avenue, shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday. As crews fought the fire, smoke could be seen on the east side of the building and on the second floor.

Fire officials previously said they believe the fire started on the southwest side of the building. But in an update on Sunday, a Toronto Fire Services spokesperson said it's unclear where the blaze first broke out.

Frank Luchetta, president of Pusateri's Fine Foods, said three cleaners were inside the closed store at the time of the fire. The cleaners smelled smoke, called Toronto Fire and left the building, Luchetta said. No one was injured.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but there is likely smoke and water damage inside the store, Toronto Fire Commander Bob O'Halloran said.

It could be "days" before the cause of the fire is known, O’Halloran said.

On Sunday, firefighters were on scene to make sure no hot spots remained. The store is expected to remain closed Sunday.
