A group of demonstrators marched through the city Sunday protesting against violence, a week after 27-year-old Christopher Skinner was killed in a violent incident.

Among the group was mother Seeta Kumar, who lost her 22-year-old son Reon Paul more than three years ago. Reon Paul was stabbed to death during a World Cup soccer party which turned violent.

"It feels like the world isn't moving anymore," Kumar told CTV Toronto's Dana Levenson on Sunday, recalling the death.

Kumar spoke as a group of people, mostly mothers, marched down Yonge Street in an act of defiance against what they say is an unacceptable level of violence and brutality in our society.

Gloria Hull is another mother whose son, Jamie, died in violence earlier this year.

"People don't want to speak up," said Hull. "People are scared. My son was murdered in someone's backyard."

As the march continued, mothers held signs and pictures of their deceased sons. The demonstration was hosted by the group United Mothers Against Violence Everywhere (UMOVE).
