A Mississauga man has been charged in connection with a mid-May collision in Milton that sent six people to hospital.

The May 14 collision happened on Trafalgar Road south of Derry Road.

At about 11 a.m. on a clear day, a northbound Toyota went out of control and veered into the southbound lanes. A southbound Kia transporting five men, four of whom were Chinese nationals, struck the Toyota.

A Pontiac driven by an Orangeville woman then struck the Toyota and Kia.

The collision left the Toyota driver trapped in his vehicle. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kia's driver, a Mississauga man, was taken to hospital in Milton. Three of his Chinese passengers were also taken there.

A fourth passenger was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital, where the 25-year-old resident of Tianjin, China is still recovering from life-threatening injuries, police said.

The other three Chinese men are out of hospital. Two of them have since returned home while one other man remains in Canada.

Tahir Qureshi has been charged with "fail to drive in a marked lane," Halton Regional Police said Thursday in a news release.

He is to appear in a Milton court on Sept. 12.
