The family of a woman who has been missing since before Christmas 2011 is issuing a renewed plea for information about her disappearance.

Cheryl Rowe, 45, was last seen Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 on Browndale Crescent in Richmond Hill, north of Toronto.

Police investigators said they think Rowe is the victim of foul play, and they spent part of Wednesday searching along the Greenbelt near Richmond Hill for clues.

The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board is also offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who has information on Rowe’s whereabouts.

Rowe’s family, meanwhile, is maintaining hope that one of Rowe’s friends has information that would be useful to police.

“I feel somebody out there knows what happened to my sister,” said Joe Rowe, Cheryl Rowe’s brother. “She's well known. She has a lot of friends out there."

Police say there are friends of the missing woman who have not come forward, and investigators believe they have valuable information that could break the case.

When she disappeared, Rowe left behind two children, Shane, who is now 26, and Christina, who is now 19.

Her disappearance has been tough on the whole family, Joe Rowe said.

"Now I know how people feel when someone goes missing, it, it tears you apart and you go through every emotion you can imagine and you just want it to stop,” he said.

Joe Rowe said his sister left his home on Browndale Crescent on Dec. 22, saying she was heading to friend’s place on Rathfon Crescent.

It is unclear whether Rowe ever arrived at that friend’s residence.

Joe Rowe said his sister had struggled with drug addiction in the past, but she was turning her life around when she disappeared.

"She left the house in good spirits and we've never seen her since,” he said. “It's been almost seven months and no word, no nothing. It's as if she just disappeared off the planet Earth."

The family is further perplexed by the fact that Rowe couldn’t have made it far on her own because she didn’t drive and didn’t own any vehicles.

Pauline Ciamarone, Rowe’s aunt, said her niece is a good person, who never gossiped and was kind to everyone.

“Unless you're in this position, you have no idea how awful it is because every time you hear something on the news, you think, is it her and then you imagine,” Ciamarone said.

Rowe is described as a white female, 5’ tall with dark brown hair, brown eyes and a thin build.

She was last seen wearing black pants, a purple turtleneck, a light-blue two-toned jacket and a white baseball hat with a green leaf on the front.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the York Regional Police Homicide Unit a 1-866-287-5025.
