HAMILTON, Ont. -- A 27-year-old Hamilton woman is facing charges after police say a missing teen was found working for an escort service.

Police say they were contacted in mid-December about a 15-year-old girl who was missing.

An investigation led officers to find the teen in an apartment building in downtown Hamilton three days later.

The girl told investigators that she had been working as part of an escort service for the past few weeks.

Milada Bendigova is charged with material benefit from sexual services, exercising control of a person under 18 and advertising sexual service.

The charges are the first to be laid by the Hamilton Police Service under Canada's new prostitution-related legislation.
