INNISFIL, Ont. -- Police say two people in their 20s who were airlifted to hospital in critical condition after a head-on collision north of Toronto are now stable.

South Simcoe police say a 23-year-old man from Innisfil, Ont., and a 27-year-old woman from Barrie, Ont., are in serious but stable condition in Toronto.

They were among six people sent to hospital following Wednesday's crash on 9th Line in Innisfil, which police say involved a Volkswagen Jetta sedan and a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The two seriously injured people were in the Jetta, along with two girls aged two and eight who were taken to a local hospital.

The two-year-old was subsequently released, while the eight-year-old has now been taken to a Toronto hospital where she is also in serious but stable condition.

A 50-year-old man and 16-year-old boy from Innisfil were in the pickup and have been treated for minor injuries.
