CHATHAM, Ont. -- Police say a pedestrian is dead after being struck by a Via Rail passenger train in Chatham, Ont.
Via officials say the train had just left the Chatham station when it hit the man shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased has not been released by police.
The eastbound train was headed for Toronto and Via chartered buses to transport the 81 passengers aboard the train to their destinations.
The train was released by police just before 2 p.m.
