A pedestrian is in hospital in an induced coma after being struck by a vehicle during the evening commute in Mississauga Monday.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was struck following a collision between two vehicles at Erin Mills Parkway and Leanne Boulevard at around 5:30 p.m., a spokesperson with Peel police says.

Police say a Porsche Cayenne and a Volkswagen Golf collided, forcing one of the vehicles onto the sidewalk where it struck the man.

The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators, police say.

The man was transported to hospital in Mississauga and then subsequently airlifted to Toronto.

He is currently in hospital in an induced coma with head and chest injuries.
