A 24-year-old man was arrested on seven charges after drugs and a loaded handgun were found inside a vehicle in Ajax on Sunday night.

Durham Regional Police say a call came in just after 8:20 p.m. saying there was a suspicious vehicle parked on Hunt Street.

Officers who arrived on scene located a man sleeping inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation, police said they uncovered a loaded handgun, $250-worth of crack and marijuana and more than $11,000 in cash inside the vehicle.

A suspect identified as Alexander Henry was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession knowing it is unauthorized, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, unlicensed person knowingly possessing an unregistered firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking (crack/cocaine) and possession of a controlled substance.
