A male has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing in Toronto’s Koreatown neighbourhood.

Toronto police say it happened inside an internet cafe on Bloor Street West near Palmerston Boulevard at around 12:15 p.m.

The victim, who is believed to be in his 20s, reportedly suffered a stab wound to his chest.

Police say the suspect and the victim were involved in a confrontation prior to the stabbing.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

“The man that was stabbed does not know the man that he got into an argument with at the Internet cafe,” Toronto police Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said. “So it was an unknown person who stabbed the man and fled the area.”

Sophie Chum, who works next door to the café, said that she saw a man stumbling toward paramedics.

“He basically was saying the cops are coming. The police are coming,” she said.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.
