A London, Ont. school is mourning the loss of a teacher killed during an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend.

Angela Sedore, a grade six teacher at Ashley Oaks Public School, died from gunshot wounds.

Her body was found inside a car on Highway 115, just south of Peterborough, on Sunday. Police were pursuing the car as part of an attempted murder investigation in London.

Another man was also found dead in the car where Sedore was discovered. It is believed he shot himself shortly after police released a spike belt to get the car off the road. It is not known when Sedore was shot.

Police confirmed the man who was found dead in the car is responsible for shooting a 36-year-old man identified as Edward Dixon in the stomach outside a London-area grocery store  hours before police caught up with them.

Dixon is a grade seven teacher at Ashley Oaks. He is in hospital recovering from his wounds.

Students and staff were said to be devastated by the news. A flag outside the school was lowered as a sign of respect.

"It's a very sad day at Ashley Oaks school and the students and staff are openly grieving," the school's principal told CTV Toronto. "I met with the staff at 8:30 this morning and had the board's tragic events response team with us to support the staff."

It appears Sedore was involved in a love triangle of sorts. She has been romantically connected to the male driver found dead in the car as well as Dixon.

Police are releasing very few details about the death.

"I hope you understand this is a tragic circumstance and there's a lot that needs to be done," Allan Eaton of the SIU told CTV Sunday.

The province's Special Investigations Unit was called in to investigate. The independent government body is called in each time police are involved in an incident that results in serious bodily harm or death.

SIU spokesperson Rose Bliss told the Toronto Star it doesn't appear police fired their guns during the incident.
