A Pickering man has entered a guilty plea in connection with an attack on Noel Gallagher, guitarist of the British band Oasis, at the 2008 Virgin Music Festival.

Daniel Sullivan, 48, pleaded guilty in the Ontario Court of Justice to a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

On Sept. 7, 2008, Sullivan rushed on stage at Toronto Island and shoved Gallagher from behind, pushing him into his monitor speakers.

It eventually turned out that Gallagher suffered three broken or dislodged ribs in the attack.

Security personnel tacked Sullivan before he could attack Liam Gallagher, Noel's brother and the band's singer.

While Noel Gallagher eventually returned to the stage to finish the set, he had to take time off the tour to recover. The band cancelled five concerts after a Sept. 22 CT scan in London showed the broken ribs.

Gallagher has said it took him eight months to fully recover.

Sullivan was intoxicated at the time of the attack.

The judge in his case has ordered a pre-sentence report. Sentence is to be passed this coming Feb. 5.
