GO Transit is making several changes to its train and bus schedules in September including an increase in routes to Kitchener, Hamilton and Toronto's Pearson Airport.

The southern Ontario transit company released its fall schedules Wednesday, posting full details of the changes online

The new GO bus schedule begins on Sept. 5, with changes coming to the Lakeshore, Milton, Kitchener, Highway 407, Barrie and Stouffville corridors.

Several routes have been tweaked slightly, with stop times changed slightly to improve travel times. Some corridors are extending routes, adding stops or increasing service.

GO's Route 47J, which travels between Square One Shopping Centre and the Oakville GO Station carpool lot, has been eliminated. Instead, Route 40 has been expanded to connect Hamilton directly to Toronto's Pearson International Airport, with stops in Oakville and Mississauga. The previous route ran from Richmond Hill to Pearson, but has now been extended to Hamilton.

New routes have been created and existing routes have been modified to accommodate the new Erin Mills station on the Mississauga Transitway.

Bus trips that serve schools and were discontinued for the summer will be reinstated at the same time.

Changes to train lines begin the following Tuesday, Sept. 8, with 14 new train times on the Kitchener line. The schedule has changed for all Stouffville trains due to construction along the corridor.

Some weekday morning eastbound Lakeshore trains will depart between one and five minutes later to "more accurately reflect actual travel times and arrivals at Union Station," the GO Transit website said.

There will be seven new off-peak trips from the Mount Pleasant GO Station in Brampton, and seven corresponding trips from Union Station back to Brampton.
