Regular GO Transit train service from Georgetown resumed Thursday morning after a derailment cancelled service the day before.

Passengers were warned there would still be delays because of restricted speeds through the derailment site. GO Transit estimated the trains were running about 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule.

Service was halted Wednesday after 20 cars of a CN Railfreight train derailed. No injuries were reported and officials said no hazardous materials were spilled. The cars were either empty or carrying general freight.

The derailment was a result of a mechanical failure in the parts that connected the cars, officials confirmed.
