GO train service suspended between Ajax and Oshawa after fatality near Whitby GO station

GO Transit says service on the Lakeshore East line has been disrupted following a fatality in Whitby this afternoon.

It happened at around 12 p.m. near the Whitby GO Station, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins confirms.

Details about the fatal incident were not immediately clear.

GO Transit says trains will still be operating between the Ajax GO Station and Union Station and GO bus shuttle service will be available between the Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa GO stations.

The disruption is expected to last until at least 2 p.m.
