Toronto travellers are being advised to check their flight status, as Tropical Storm Isaac continues to wreak havoc in the Florida area, causing flight cancellations and delays.

Pearson International Airport tweeted Sunday that most flights to Miami had been cancelled. The airport advised travellers to check with their respective airlines or call 416-AIRPORT to get the latest updates on their flight status.

WestJet posted a travel advisory on its website warning that the storm was affecting travel to and from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers.

Air Canada also posted several travel alerts on its website, warning that flights to and from Cuba, Fort Lauderdale, Jamaica and Miami may be impacted by the storm.

Isaac’s rain and strong winds hit parts of the Florida Keys Sunday, and may intensify into a hurricane in the coming days.

The storm caused the Republican National Convention in Tampa to be delayed until Tuesday. The convention was originally scheduled to start Monday.

The massive storm has already caused chaos in the Caribbean, killing 10 people in Haiti.
