The sister and father of a missing Markham woman sobbed uncontrollably as they pleaded with the public for clues to her whereabouts.

“Sandy, if you hear us, we just want to know you’re safe,” Tracy Luong said through heavy tears during a news conference Friday morning. “If you could just call anyone, we just want to know you’re okay.”

Sandy Luong, 23, was last seen Tuesday leaving her father’s home near the intersection of Helen Avenue and Kennedy Road at about 2:30 p.m. She told her family she was going outside for a walk but never returned.

“It’s not like her to be gone for this long,” her sister told reporters.

An extensive air and ground search of wooded areas, waterways and other open spaces in Markham has led to no new leads, a spokesperson with York Regional Police said.

Police have also called in their helicopter and drone to search for Luong, but haven’t had any luck so far.

Searchers were on the grounds of Unionvillle Meadowvale Public School on Friday morning.

At this point, police don’t suspect the woman met with foul play.

Const. Nate Matthew said it is possible Luong has some bus tokens, but does not have her ID or money with her.

Tracy Luong said the family used to live in the East York area of Toronto, and Sandy also lived in the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Caledonia Road, so she is familiar with many parts of Toronto as well as the TTC system.

She described her sister soft spoken and generous.

“If she only had one dollar she’d rather give it to someone else to help them,” her sister said through her tears.

Police want homeowners in the area to search their properties, including sheds and garages.

Luong is described as an Asian woman, standing five-feet-five inches tall, weighing 100 pounds. She has short black hair with bangs.

She was last seen wearing a long purple winter coat, a black skirt and black boots.
