A family escaped injury after an early morning fire gutted their home in Richmond Hill.

Fire fighters were called to 293 Bernard Ave, in the Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road area around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Once on the scene they found a two-storey house engulfed in flames.

Police said the residents of the home escaped from the blaze unharmed.

However, the home and two vehicles were destroyed in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
