A man is facing charges after a dump truck with its bucket raised brought down power lines and a light pole at an intersection in Markham on Saturday.
Dashcam video posted to YouTube shows the dump truck making a left at the intersection of Warden Avenue and Gibson Drive when the truck’s upright bed clips overhead power wires.
The snared wires caused the truck to run into a traffic-light pole. The truck and the pole toppled over, narrowly missing stopped vehicles on the other side of the road.
Police say 26-year-old Jaipal Sidhu, of Stittsville, Ont., has been charged with careless driving.
No one was injured during the incident.
