A driver who allegedly pointed a fake gun at motorists on the Queen Elizabeth Way has been arrested, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.

It happened in the Niagara-bound lanes on Sunday at approximately 4 p.m., the OPP said in a post on social media.

The driver, who was not named, was stopped at the Glendale exit, east of St. Catharines, and taken into custody.

An imitation gun was seized at the scene, the OPP said, noting that the driver is facing undisclosed charges.

Police did not say why the driver was pointing the imitation firearm at other drivers.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Niagara OPP at 905-356-1311.
