HAMILTON, Ont. -- Correctional officers from across Ontario plan to rally today outside the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre.

Union leaders say it's a show of support for more than 200 officers at the facility who are in a prolonged dispute with management over proposed disciplinary measures.

The workers are represented by Local 248 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.

They're challenging disciplinary measures the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services wants to impose on guards following a dispute over safety measures inside the jail.

Corrections officers had refused to go inside until they were allowed to wear protective vests during a search for a missing piece of metal.
