CALGARY -- The Calgary homicide squad is investigating the death of a Toronto woman who was found in the middle of a road.

Police say the body of 19-year-old Polina Kazanceva was found by a taxi driver around 4 a.m. on Wednesday in a south-west part of the city.

Investigators say she appears to have died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Kazanceva was visiting Calgary and had been in the city for a week before her death.

Police are now trying to piece together the hours before she died and ask anyone with information to them.
