Blue Jays outfielder helps fan propose to girlfriend ahead of Game 1
A baseball fan got a little help from a Blue Jay when he proposed to his girlfriend ahead of the playoff opener on Thursday.
Outfielder Kevin Pillar provided some star power when Darryl Stawychny proposed to his girlfriend Katie Bookman outside Gate 5 at the Rogers Centre.
Stawychny proposed to Bookman, also a Jays fan, by showing her a photo of Pillar holding a sign that read, “Dear Katie, will you marry this guy?”
Bookman accepted, as friends documented the proposal from afar.
Stawychny later thanked Pillar over Twitter by posting a photo of him and Bookman inside the Rogers Centre for the game.
Stawychny also brought a treasured momento to the game on Thursday: A photo of him with his late father, Sam:
