A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the manufacturing of illegal 3D firearms.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer say they intercepted "falsely declared packages" going to the same address from international mail and cargo processing facilities in Mississauga and Vancouver.

Border services said these packages contained multiple illegal firearm devices along with 3D equipment typically used to build semi-automatic rifle style firearms.

The investigation was launched into the importer last October, CBSA told CTV News.

A month later, they located and seized four 3D-manufactured illegal firearms, two 3D-printed illegal devices, one 3D printed restricted firearm, two 3D printers, and multiple illegal firearm parts as well as automatic rifle parts and accessories from the accused's home.

Reza Nezamabadi, of Aurora, is facing nine charges pertaining to the manufacturing, smuggling, importation, and possession of these devices.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
