TORONTO - Toronto Argonauts coach Jim Barker and four CFL players are a little lighter in the pocketbook.

Barker was fined $1,000 by the CFL for public comments critical of game officials following the disqualification of linebacker Erijo Kuale on Saturday in Toronto's 33-24 home loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Kuale was ejected in the third quarter after a late, helmet-to-helmet hit on Winnipeg quarterback Buck Pierce. Barker was told by the official Kuale was given the boot for intent to injure, something Barker questioned publicly.

The CFL also fined Kuale and Argos defensive end Ricky Foley undisclosed amounts. Like Barker, Foley was penalized for public comments critical of game officials.

The league also levied fines against B.C. Lions defensive back Korey Banks for unsportsmanlike conduct (specifically a throat slash gesture) in the club's 39-31 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. As well, Montreal Alouettes defensive back Dwight Anderson was fined for unnecessary roughness on Saskatchewan Roughrider Weston Dressler.

Television replays showed Anderson not only grabbing Dressler's helmet but also sticking his fingers inside the receiver's facemask, his thumb going into Dressler's eye.
