Three suspects are facing a number of charges after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly confined in a downtown Toronto hotel room and forced into the sex trade.
The girl, who has not been identified, was rescued last week after security officers at a hotel, located in the Bay Street and Dundas Street West area, responded to a noise complaint. They found the girl in the room.
Police say the girl was "invited" to the hotel by the suspects, who then allegedly forced her to provide sexual services over the course of a week.
"The offenders placed advertisements for sexual services on the Internet, and made arrangements with clients," police said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police say the girl was forced to turn over all the money to the suspects. She was also confined to the room.
"Her personal belongings were taken, including her cellphone, and the hotel room phone was disabled," police said.
Sage Finestone, 21, Nicholas Faria, 19, and Natasha Robataille, 18 were arrested last Friday. They face a number of charges including forcible confinement, material benefit from sexual services provided by a person under 18 years of age, and advertising another person’s sexual services.
They appeared in court on Feb. 28.
The 14-year-old girl has since been returned home to her family and is safe.
Police believe there may be more victims.
