A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling off an overpass onto Highway 401 near Port Hope, Ont., on Wednesday afternoon.
Police believe the woman was snapping photos when she fell onto the busy highway from the Cranberry Road overpass at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The woman was not struck by any vehicles, but suffered serious injuries. Police say passing motorists on the highway stopped to help her. She was airlifted to a Toronto hospital.
The westbound 401 lanes were temporarily closed for approximately two hours as police investigated the incident.
